Project charter discussions and documentation focuses traditionally on project scope and the goals and objectives for the project. To address specificity of Agile project, the author of this article has recently created and successfully utilized an Agile Development Team Charter. It differs from usual project charter as it focuses more on the ‘how’ of the project.
There are three objectives for an Agile Development Team Charter:
1) Build a team culture of safety and confidence
2) Create a culture of Innovation
3) Communicate Team Member activities in a new but familiar format
The article contains an example of such Agile Development Team Charter for the project manager. It shows how such document can help team members understand their activities on the project and the expectations of for all team members on an Agile project.
